Karriview
Wines
Karriview
wines are produced from fruit sourced
solely from Karriview, a small
closely planted vineyard surrounded by the
majestic Karri forest.
The
vineyard, consisting of 50% pinot noir and
50% chardonnay was established in 1986,
the first to be planted in the Denmark
region. The maturity of the vines is
evident in recent vintages of both the
pinot noir and chardonnay, with increasing
concentration and complexity in these
wines.
The
vineyard produces small parcels of quality
pinot noir and chardonnay fruit from its
4ha vineyard
Planting
began in 1986, chardonnay and pinot noir
were chosen because they were considered
best suited to the cool Denmark
environment. Nearly 8,000 closely planted
vines now flourish with production
averaging around 3 tonnes per hectare.
The red
loam soil with outcrops of granite
represent the combination of typical
coastal karri tree country. The Karri
trees surrounding the vineyard create a
unique microclimate within the vineyard
which ensures a long slow ripening
period.
Due to the
closely planted vines, all vineyard work
is completed by hand, including pruning
and picking. The surrounding karri trees
are home to many birds and the vines are
netted annually to protect the fruit.
Organic principals are undertaken in the
vineyard and hence no pesticides are used
in the vineyard.

Chardonnay 2003
The
chardonnay wine is whole bunch pressed and
left in tanks on lees before going into
oak for extended maturation of up to 9
months in new and old French
oak.

oak. Layers of nectarine, grapefruit and
white peach fruits are enhanced across the
palate by notes of citrus and mineral
complexity, while the oak sits
harmoniously in the background.
